She has covered sports for some of some of the most prominent media across the globe. The journalist spent more than a decade reporting on the sport for The Washington Post, including tennis, football and basketball. Nichols began a nine year stint at ESPN where she was awarded two Emmy Awards, and featured on many of ESPN's top programs, including NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. The Monday Night Football coverage as the team's reporter was an integral an integral part of her job with the network. She then moved to CNN as well as Turner Sports. Unguarded, a show that she produced and hosted, airs every one week at CNN International. The show had over a billion viewers around the world. Nichols also worked to TNT in NBA broadcasts during playoffs, as well as the broadcasts of the All-Star games. Also, she reported for TBS broadcasting golf and baseball broadcasts, and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. This is only the second nomination in 42 years of the award for a female out of more than 200 contenders.
